MRE - abrasive cloth used in metalwork

ON - a guys name
and, why wasn't one of the very first ones as follows ???
EEE - famous city in Libya, source of very fine abrasive, as used in the UBEAUT product http://www.ubeaut.com.au/eee.htm
(I was in Termite's shed when this finally clicked - I had to hear someone else say it out loud, before I understood the phonetic pun)

When I was in the RAF we had a phonetic alphabet we used. I can't remember all of it but some goes like this:

D for cate
E for the love a mike
F for vessence
Gee for crying out loud

L for leather

O for the wings of a dove

Q for everything
