Life really sucks sometimes

I lost my Mother to liver cancer 9 years ago, it was fast and merciless, all I can add is that the hospital staff were wonderful and the drugs used allowed her to enjoy her limited time free from pain.

My sympathy, too. "They" say cancer is a word, not a sentence, but "they" rarely have it affect their own lives. Let's hope your Dad doesn't suffer.
