Oh well, after several weeks lurking in the background doing research I have come to the conclusion that I want to build a deck in our new house. (I just tried to upload some pics but it had a problem with security tokens. ) The deck will be 5.5m by 6.5m when finished. and have a patio over the top.

I'm trying to get my head around the starting point. We have lots of sand in WA and I want to know if its better to raise the deck off it or just lay it straight on top.
My preference is the raised part but i am wondering if I am being paranoid about termites. I see that many people are much more experienced at this thing and would love to get your views.

Hears to insanity and more decking. I hope that i'm going to survive this
