Hello from Melbourne
Hey guys, this is my first post so sorry if it's crap.
Here is a bit about me. I've recently decided to become a chippie after working in the telecommunications/electrical trades all my working life. My main aim/dream is to become a luther as I've always tinkered with axes (I'm a muso) and love working with timber. I think it's the fact that if you make a mistake with timber, you can't join it back together with a scotch lock or weld another bit on. I know you can bodge things up, believe me I do, but that's not what I'm about, I'm a competitive prick and love perfection, as I'm sure most of you guys here do.
Anyhow, everytime I do a search on guitar making techniques this forum comes up and seems pretty good/friendly/troll free so I thought I'd stick my ugly head in here and join the family.Anyway, I'm off to ask silly questions and get chastised for calling timber wood hahaha.
Cheers,

Welcome Lucky.
I sat in a similar position to you now.
Left a 17yr job Panel Beating to become an Apprentice carpenter at the age of 32.
5 years later I'm a tradesman and also running my own business as a guitar builder.
It's a good life !!!!

hahah, I've been playing with wires for 10 years, that's a long time in my books
, crawling under houses and in roofs sucks
. I figure while I'm still young and am in the situation where doing so is the best option, I can start over. It's going to be interesting being an apprentice again (grrrr) but as long as I'm being productive, I'm happy.
Cheers

I'm a bassist so I like anything with a good groove but I'm a metal head/grunger at heart, Judas Priest, Pantera, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Exodus, Corrosion, etc Some of the newer bands are ok but there are so many out there now that it's rare to find one that is special or unique. Unearth, The Haunted, Lamb of God and From Autumn to Ashes are some of the newer ones I like. I'm also a huge fan on blues (love improvised jams), indie music and I've dabbled making techno/hip-hop a bit when the mood strikes me.
I'm in between bands at the moment and haven't played in ages but I think the bug is about to bite again.
Cheers
