Hi All

First time user!! Yay. Have come here cause every time I put a question into the net, this forum comes up, so worth a go.

I need to know the back to basics of dealing with our timber - floorboards, skirting boards, door architraves, etc.

What are the options for dealing with timber, eg stain, beeswax, tung oil, shellac, etc. I hear all these terms but don't understand what time in the process they take place or what part they play.

Can someone take 5 mins to give me a little back to basics.

and for a direct question, we have western red cedar floorboards in our 1906 sydney house that have just been 'acid bathed'. They are now a dull greyish brown, if that is possible. I would like them to have a lovely reddish tone to them and perhaps some gloss, but I'm not big on the stink of that stuff they put on floors to make them SHINE!
What are my options.

Thanks all. Looking forward to hearing from...someone....I hope?

Beck
