Hare and Forbes Brisbane
This is just a note to say how impressed I am with the service from the Brisbane branch of H&F. Had a mishap with my mc900 lathe, the main drive pulley carrier bearing collapsed in the variable speed slide and the pulley started to come apart in disassembley. Carbetec gave my the usual runaround about parts being a couple of weeks away, so thinking that the wl18 might have the same pulley system gave H&F a ring. Not only did they listen to my request, but gave me the specifications of the pulleys that were in stock and low and behold, for my model. they are the same.
That was 3.30pm on Thursday, 4.00pm friday the pulley arrived iin an airbag from Sydney, That's landed in Longreach in less than 24 hours.
I really have to give them the big

i have had similar experiences dealing with these 2 companies.
carbatec are very difficult to deal with, i'd rather have my fingernails pulled out with a pair of pliers than go into that shop!
the only reason i go in there, is to get accessories for the leigh jigs.
hare and forbes have been a pleasure to deal with.
btw, anybody know where i can buy leigh jig accessories in brisbane?
regards, justin.

It seems to depend on who you get. Some people in carbatec are really good, some hopeless. Likewise H&F, most of the people I've spoken to have at least had a good go at helping me.

Good to hear about some good service. I have had pretty good service from H&F and found them most helpful with the dealings I have had with them. Carba tec have been helpful in some things but found one particular lady salesperson in Brisbane to be a bit offhanded.

My experience is that Hare & Forbes know what they are talking about, are willing to share their knowledge and are extremely efficient in despatch. Definitely thumbs up. It's always worth looking at them first for machinery.
