Not up to the job
G'day all,
Recently finished stage one of my deck and gave it 3 coats of oil (feast and watson's natural) using utemads technique (thanks utemade).
I used Swan River Red (karri) for the decking and it really soaked the oil up.
Unfortunately due to the deck being exposed to fairly heavy traffic and to all day sun, the oil just isn't holding up. (waiting for the "I told you so's")
I'm going to refinish the deck using spa and deck or similar waterbased finish, but have a couple of questions.
1. What do you reckon is the better product spa and deck, floods or other?
2. What prep do I need to do before applying, I know the oils going to have to be removed, anything else?
3. I was pretty happy with colour of the F&W natural decking oil but have heard it isn't so flash in the spa and deck - should I look at using Jarrah giving there's lot's of red's in the timber?
Appreciate any input and will post some pics soon.
Cheers,
Ricey.
