Timber for doorjamb/ header
Why do we usually use cedar/ meranti for doorjambs?
I'm installing french doors later in the week and trying to cut some costs. Is there anything wrong with making up the jambs etc out of pine? The hinges are going to be fixed through into posts behind the jambs so they aren't going to be bearing the full load of the doors and everything is going to be painted.
Is there a problem with using pine?
