Stapling Chicken wire to floor joist?
Spoke to Bradford Insulation about how to use their R2.5 batts for insulating under the timber floor (old 1940's house). They said press the batts up under the floorboards, and staple chicken wire to the joists under the batts to hold them in place.
1. anyone done this?
2. suggestions for staples (and suitable staple gun?) for fixing the chicken wire? I'd rather not spend millions on a tool but don't like the idea of manually hammering some staples whilst lying on my back in cramped space under the house for hours on end.
The staples don't need to go into the timber very far, as they won't be taking much load at all, but the joists are bloody hard, so not sure what sort of staples would be suitable, and easy to use.
I'd rather use batts, than aircell or other similar foil stuff, for many reasons, so advice on fixing the batts in place is appreciated.
Cheers
Timbernut
