Finish on a Jarrah Burl table

G'day all

Am newish to woodworking and am looking for some advice please.
I have a Jarrah burl which is (slowly) becoming a coffee table. I was going to finish it with BLO and turps and seal witha few coats of a polyurethane. Any advice/tips on this approach? Also can i mix the 3 ingredients together?
Lastly, it has several "holes" in it which i was going to fill with brickies oxide/resin combination. Any comments please.

Fibreglass and Resin sales in perth do a two part resin called FR251 which is great when you want that clear look .Its fairly easy to use and a syringe can be handy for getting into tight spots.Only fill about 20-25 mm deep in one go then sand ( a bit at least to"key" the next layer in) when dry and do another layer.It has a slight yellow tinge which is un noticeable as any gap or hole with any depth will look darkish because of light reflection characteristics.
West Systems mixed with oxide and"microfibre" blend to a paste like consistency works well too, once again layering if necessary.This will not run whereas if your holes/gaps go all the way through you need to tape or west systems the bottom side first or have plastic sheeting underneath.

If you are thinking of mixing the 3 together, why not just go straight for Danish oil. Good ones like Rustins are a mix of tung oil, spar varnish and polyurethane. The tung oil heavy mixes allow the poly to level itself.
Wipe on, wipe off - it doesn't get easier than that.

You can also make your own with a third, third, third mix. There are also threads here on the forum for making your own oil/ poly mixes. Do a search.

Minwax Wipe On Poly is another good option for jarrah. Four coats, I reckon.
