Lathen plaster
I need some advice. My parents have lived in their 1910 built home for 40 years. They are now needing to sell it and move to a more age approriate place. The walls are lathen plaster but over the years they have been wallpapered. I believe there are 3 layers of wall paper in some rooms. The realtor has told us to strip all of the wallpaper to the original plaster. I am concerened that if the wallpaper is stripped the walls are going to fall apart. I know that in some places my mother states it was beginning to crumble, thus the reason for the paper becuase they didn't have the money to replaster the house. Does anyone have a sollution for this problem that would not involve incredible expense or renovation. Your suggestions are much appreciated.
