Cutting down Perfect Gloss/resin finish
Hi there,
Has anyone tried using EEE or another other cut & polish product over the Perfect Gloss resin product? http://www.carbatec.com.au/finishes-...coating-system
Background info:
I have used both EEE and Festool 6000 grit paste with a ROS over hard shellac on a Kauri dining table with excellent results. My only concern is that after twelve months I have a few ‘heat marks’ (only from mild dinner plate heat) and plenty of light scratches on the surface of the table . This may be due to the fact that I polished very close to the grain (to show off the colours) and didn’t utilise the toughness of the HS with a thicker coat.Since then i've brushed on HS rather than 'rubbed' and it seems to be more durable.
For the huon slab coffee table I wanted more of a ‘tough/resilient’ finish and went for the self levelling epoxy finish. I have a plate of glass sitting in a hole in the middle of the slab so I was happy with the super high gloss finish as this matched the glass well. The only downfall is how thick the coat is, resulting in somewhat of a ‘plastic’ look. My idea is to cut it down closer to the surface grain and still maintain the toughness. Anyone tried this?
Cheers,
Damen
