Hope y'all good folks in the Mackay, QLD area are doing OK what with that Cat 4 TC (Hamish) churning around off your coast. It looks to be about as bad as our hurricanes.
Of course, the dang thing might blow down some turning wood.
    Hang in there!!!

It was up to a Cat 5 when it went past the Whitsunday Islands.
They evacuated some of the islands yesterday in preparation.

    Current plot here.

The US Naval Research site has the best pics.

The ones just after Sunrise & just before Sunset are the best.

    This is the current one.

It's gone past us now and is weakening. Hopefully it doesn't change course and keeps going south-east and weakening. The eye missed the Whitsundays by a bit, I imagine they got a little windy but mostly no dramas, i think. I dont know anyone on Hayman or Hamilton at present.
But the good news is that I took all the crap off my work bench and cleaned the shed up a little, so it's usable again

Stupid bloody news reported that Airlie beach was lashed by 270KPH winds.

The wind near the centre was 270KPH but the bloody centre missed Airlie by bloody miles.

It's still category 4 off the yepoon coast. You can still just see the tail of it in our radar. Heron Island and Lady Elliot Island wont be fun places over the next day or so.

In Maryborough at almost beer o'clock and we have,

    slight rain - drizzle

some light winds with occasional gusts, a little swirly rather than just blowing from the one direction

Forcast says it will miss coming ashore between Bundaberg and Maryborough and should continue to track parallel to the coast - can't say I'm sorry to hear/see that. [Mind you it will probably depend on when the forcasters stick their heads out of the window and make an educated guess as cyclones are totally non predictable]

It's moved as predicted so far.
My Mothers parents used to live in Tooley Street, near the end somewhere, spent many a week in Maryborough, nice place.
