Blue board to alu window frame
Hi,
We have just had some aluminium framed bifold windows installed in an alfresco terrace area we are having built.
The builder has run the blue board on the parapet above the window frame into the frame channel (as per picture1), and sealed the join with silicone. This will then be rendered over. I fear this is not the best way to have done it, and wonder how water tight it will be, as it would seem to encourage the flow of water into the frame.
I would have thought a better scenario would have been to run the blue board over the lip of the frame (as per picture 2). This would provide a mechanical join, preventing water from entering the frame.
What do you guys think? Am I worrying for nothing?
Thanks,
Jonty
