Safe Finish for babies Cot
Hi peoples,
I am currently building a babies cot out of pine and am looking for a safe finish to go over a turps based stain.
Polishing with Baby oil was suggested but I dont know if this will work over stain.
There must be something as most commercially available cots are stained and finished, but at this stage I have not been able to identify what with.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Regards, Geoff

Hi
What about shellac?
Its made from bugs bits.
Natural, and safe I think?

I have made many cots commercially and used Croda\Mirotone precatalysed laquer which is inert when cured.
Shellac would also be a reasonable option as shellac is a food ingredient.
Any finish suitable for wood toys must be safe.

Cot finish
Use a finish that contains a solvent that makes them sleep
I like cats but I couldn't eat a whole one :

Havent tried it but you could always mix the shellac flakes with overproof vodka.
