Hi Guys,
Im looking at getting T&G solid timber floors laid. I was looking at getting blackbutt mainly because I prefer the lighter colour and it's reasonably hard. One company recommended I get southern blue gum because this particular batch they have is old growth which would be more suitable for my type of house and location. They said if I get blackbutt the timber will expand and contract more than the southern blue gum and less likely to cup and show gaps between the boards.
What are your thoughts? Is there any truth in all this?
