A year ago I bought a cheap house that someone had added an extension to without council approval.

The job wasn't done very well and it has been up to me to underpin this project.

At the time the real estate agent (who now sits on council) told me that it would never be chased up.

I'm wondering if I should seek council approval on this extension or just leave it. If they don't like it can they (and what are the chances that they will) tear it down?

Will having an unapproved extension affect the sale price of the house if we decided to sell?
