Decking 101 Help
Hey all - wanted to make a start on setting up the framework for my deck.
Have had all sorts of mixed advice.
Someone mentioned that you can use H4 treated pine for the bearers and basically anchor them to their hold with concrete (quick set or otherwise). However the conflicting advice I have heard is that Concrete retains water and will rot the wood in a matter of years.
I have a deck of about 6m x 6m which I was going to lay directly over josts on paving.(Yes i know, a lot for a novice) I was then going to build a pathway around the house (currently a sand pit). My thoughts were that i could just run the joists (afixed to the paving) from the paving straight out to a bearer anchored with concrete in sand.
Any thoughts or suggestions on the above would be great - it is a ground level deck!
