How much overhamg on decking boards?
I am putting up a deck using 140 x 19 merbau. One end will go under the top edge of an above ground pool. Here is will have about 60 mm overhang form the joist. I don't think taht will be a problem as it will be under teh pool edge.

The other end is to butt up close to a retaining wall.I have post extending up through the deck, to become the fence post. I was thinking of placing the joist on the inside of the posts leaving about 100 mm overhang. This won't carry any real weight as there will be a fence directly above.

Alternatley I could cut short joists, but I like teh first idea as it will be a bit quicker and allow continuos joists.
