Hi from the dark side
Hi, I'm Seumas, sometimes live in Melbourne, but currently afloat.
I've been into woodworking since primary school age, and have continued it as a
passion. I also am a jeweller and cobler part time, and also dabble in blacksmithing.
Currently I am working as ship's husband, helping restore a 150' three mast tops'l
square rigged schooner. Well, that's where I'm type of living. The whole ship is made
from wood, and being over 105 years old, it is of course in some need of wood work.
I have been fortunate to inheret some old tools from my great grandfather, grandfather
and father (and NO, I didn't help them on their way for the tools...) and am keen on
traditional tools, so handtools are my preference. Also, in different areas, mechanisation
never happened, so many handskills are still very relevant.
All the best with all your projects

Thanks Seumus,
A very worthwhile project.
Anyone who's interested can find more info on the Alma Doepel here
http://www.almadoepel.com.au
I sailed from Newcastle to Sydney on her fellow 'Jam Ship' the James Craig last year. It was a great experience and i would love to travel on an extended voyage on one of these tall ships. It will be good to see the Alma Doepel back in action.
