Remove & Apply
G'Day Folks,
I'm so new that the woods still growing.
Two problems.
1) Bed room suite 1982 ex Wellington N.Z. Solid timber believed to be "Black Beech". Wish to remove finish and stain. It's currently a low sheen finish. Used a varnish/paint remover on a small section. It worked but dried very quickly and did not bubble, as it did when applied to polyurethane. Not sure what the finish is. Is there an alternative remover that I can try instead of the above. I have heard rumors of home made concoctions.
2) Will stain with Wattyl pro. and then a satin poly.
My finish has improved over the years. Years ago I shook the can to mix, just could not understand the beautiful bubble effect.
Seen so much of discussion on Minwax that I managed to find a can.
Where do I get lint free cloth etc to apply, does it have a name?
Would any of the other normal poly's products produce a better finish with a brush?
If so which and any particular type of brush?
Thanks folks.
PS Can I use a "polish" on top of the poly to improve the finish?
