    Default installing base cupboards

Hi, we are about to install a 2nd hand kitchen and need to know if the base kitchen cabinets need to be attatched to the wall in any way or do they simply sit freestanding?

    cheers

It is generally good practice to put a screw or two through the back panel into the wall, preferably where there is a stud or noggin.

Of course, you need solid backs or a similarly rigid anchor point within the carcass for this to work.

Once the tops are on the cabinets will be quite heavy, but they can still be moved with a bit of effort, as will as potentially tipping forward if, say, someone uses the benchtop as a step ladder.

    Cheers,
