    Question Dulling Satin Polyurethane

I have just refinished a large Oak Plank table for our kitchen and applied 6 coats of clear satin polyurethane to the table. It looks great but my wife thinks that it is 'too shiny'. What can I do to dull the shine? Some have suggested sanding it lightly with very fine sandpaper!!! Or very fine steel wool!!! Is there a simple solution (which hopefully does not include moving the very heavy table back out to the garage)?

Try some EEE on a sample piece.
Rub it on & wipe it off, don't buff it or it will get shinier.

Default Steel Wool Pad With Soap?

This may sound odd to some, because its different, but it works.

Take a pad of household steel wool with the soap, wet the pad with water until the pad starts foaming, rub the pad in the same direction as the grains.

Keep the pad wet, and rub uniformly, so you get a uniform sheen, this also will give the coating a nice feel to the touch when your done.

Try this in a inconspicuos area to see the results, there are other ways of doing this, but I sugesst you first try the soapy steel wool pad you should have them in your house.

    Good Luck
