Redgum burl coffee table
Hi all
I've long wanted to have a go at making a coffee table from a piece of redgum burl, and recently bought myself a piece to have a go with. I've sanded it down to about 120 grit so far and it's looking pretty good, though I'll keep going. I'm really interested to get any tips that people may have on doing this, in particular people's opinions on the best finish to use. I've not got very much experience at all this, so I'm really open to suggestions. I've heard that polyurethane is the way to go, but I don't know if it will bring out the grain as much as I'd like. I'm really hoping to achieve a 'wet look', with a dark grain. I'm also a bit stuck as to what to do with the edges - I've been round them with a wire brush and I want a natural look but the wire brush is leaving it looking a little rougher than I'd like.
Anyway, any help would be much appreciated )
Merry Christmas to everyone.
