    Default Newbie finish question.

I am fairly new to woodworking but my knowlege of finishes is very minimal. All my previous projects have gotten 5-6 coats of brush on poly with results I really like.

I'm just finishing a large 7foot by 9 foot entertainment center out of red oak and am looking for a finish that will still give me the luster and shine of poly, but not take 4 weeks to apply.

I have a gallon of Deft gloss varnish, which is supposed to be quick drying, but I have never used this. My biggest problem besides time is that I'm working out of my garage, and dust is a real issue.

Please if anyone has some good advise I'd love to hear from you.

Mate invest in a spray gun and use lacquer if you want quick and simple. Dust will always be a problem with wet finish's. But you can cut the dust out at a latter stage with lacquer but its a pain.
