When to cement in stirrups/posts?
I was planning on using lines, etc to get all my levels and falls right, then cementing the stirrups inplace before laying the bearers. As its my first attempt at a deck I'm wondering whether I'm best of proping the bearers in place with the stirrups attached, then cement the bearers in place. Is there a prefered method/way/order of doing things?

Hey Williamstown.
Personally, I would get all the falls/levels right, prop the stirrups in, lay a bearer over them and check with a water level on a straight edge to make sure its level. If its all level and you're happy then cement it in.

Yeah i usually mount bearers and even a few joists and check levels before concreteing.

I put all bearers and joists on my first deck then attached the posts in the hole and then filled with concrete. it seemed the easiest way to me so I will be doing it again on my current projects.
I dont think it would work if your deck was well off the ground.
