Advice on finish for blue gum table top
2m x 1.2m table, blue gum 8x2" planks, lots of knots, extensive insect damage, rot and 'figure'. Sanded to 600 grit, single coat of weak shellac. Holes all filled with either epoxy or casting resin, both tinted 'maroonish' colour
How to finish?
Dont want it to go too dark and don't want the 'wet' gloss look. It's used daily for meals so needs to be durable, booze and heat proof.
I'm thinking another sand @ 600 grit, a full strength shellac, sand to 800 grit, then Polywipe (never used this before) or hard shellac, then EEE Polish?
Bit nervous, don't want to bugger it up. Any comments?Bodgy
