Default cleaning tiles and grout after laying

Dear allI have a question regarding cleaning new tiles and freshly layed grout.A few people have said that a mild hydrochloric acid wash is good to get the new tiles looking like new again after grouting.my question is will this damage a coloured grout ?I have used a davco dark chocolate grout and would like to keep the colour as is.Has anyone had any experience using an acid wash after grouting ?it probably looks good enough to leave but if it's safe to do so i will give it one final clean when room is completely finished.

    Hi davo_scuba

I have never heard of acid to clean newly laid tiles and grout.

Use water and a sponge rinse out often, let dry and then polish with a clean dry cloth.

I would not put acid on tiles, especially if they are already grouted. You are best to clean as you go using water and for grouting make sure you clean off well while it is drying and then do as Celeste says.

I have been told that if you make a mess of the grouting and can not clean it off (it has dried and is too thick on the tile) you can sprinkle baking soda on the tile then dribble some vinegar on it and wipe it clean as it bubbles. I have not tried this so i would try a small inconspicuous area first, would be nowhere as harsh as Hydrochoric Acid.
