    Default Forum Login Problems

As it's been my habit lately to wake up in the middle of the night, I come out to kill some time by logging in and checking up on you people.

Recently, I've been getting the attached error messages and can't log in. It clears after a while but sometimes it doesn't so i give up.

    Anybody else ?

PS. Other sites load as usual so it's not at my end

PPS. It happened when trying to submit this message. It was working fine and then dropped off. TWICE !

It's not happening during the day

EDIT: I noticed that this post appeared twice so one of my failed attempts must have worked. The trouble is that I can't delete it. The option to delete has gone. That's happened to me a few times as well. I have no idea why.

    Gumby,

I've forwarded this to the system admin for his attention. I personally haven't had this problem but then I'm normally asleep.
Have a nice day - Cheers

I have noticed several double posts here lately. I suspect it is happening to a few others. This has occurred before at SMC as well. But I have not experienced it lately.
    Cheers,

I had it happen several times last night between 9pm & 10:30pm.
I only got the 'server busy' one once but I got lots of page time outs.

Haven't had the time out messages, but up till about 12:37 last night, the "Loading " rotary cursor just went round and round.

    Gumby,

It's a security feature that has been installed on vBulletin to protect us from you.

It's not happening during the day and I think our new server is located overseas. Maybe there is too much traffic on the server from other forums at that time? While we're awake, they're asleep so we get better use of the server.

    Just a thought.

I've had apparent lockup around 1am your time. I figured it's just when they slow down the server to change the oil, rotate tyres, or whatever else they do once a day.

    1) Simple explanation...................

YOUR OLD, sorry mate, but younger people need more sleep than the old farts!

    2) Overall simple fix.....................

Drink more red!! no need (& no way) to get up in the middle of the night then, hence, no login problems!

Any other help you need Gumby, I'd be only too happy to set you straight...... honest!
    Cheers

I could get the home page, even browse some old threads but not much more. No new posts, no Pm's, even though it showed that others were online.

Must have been a major crash.

I got the same database error that Underused reported, nothing else.

Perhaps what you got was from your cache?
