Plumbing LPG question
Hi all.
I want to put a "T" off an existing LPG (0.5" copper) gas line.
Apart from disconnecting the bottles, is it advisable to follow other safety precautions such as blow the line out with compressed air prior to silver soldering?
I would think that the chances of the air/gas mix getting to the correct proportions to ignite would be small but some advice from someone who actually knows the proceedure would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Phill.

G'day Phill,
Just inserted a T joint in the house LPG line from two 100Kg tanks to facilitate a BBQ connection.
Here's what happened.
Lit the house LPG cooktop.
Turned off the LPG tanks.
LPG cooktop went out after about two minutes.
Cut the house LPG line where I wanted to connect the BBQ line....with a hand operated pipe cutter.
Cleaned both ends of the pipe cut......added the copper T piece and the BBQ line.....and hit it with the MAPP gas torch/some flus and some brazing rod.
No Pop/No Bang/ BBQ piped...Yumm!!Last edited by watson; 15th April 2007 at 10:25 PM. Reason: addition

Thanks Noel and China.
I have done it that way once before but thought it worth a query.
Better safe than blackened face and even less hair )
