Internet connection speed ???s...
Hi.
Right now we have ADSL on here, limited to 1.5M/s and for general tooling around it's fine and we have no complaints. Combined with the telephone, who whole deal is reasonably priced too. We are using NTT, effectively Telstra who do things right.
But, we are being bugged by another company, the power company, offering us an optic fibre connection for about the same money (slightly less for one year). Effectively, we switch over without it costing us anything. The phone company can do the same trick, but it will cost us a few extra bucks. Oh yeah, it's 100M/s and includes telephone just like the ADSL, no number change either. Not that we use the phone very much as it is...
The problems as I see it are that we are happy enough with the ADSL, it's a known quality and it works. Why fix what isn't broken?
Well, when we use skype so the little fella can see his grandparents while talking to them, the video tends to drop out and the sound quality isn't so hot. Apparently, we are the trouble since other people have said skype usually works fine, but not that hot with us.
Will the optic fibre make this better or not? FWIW, mum and dad are on Telstra cable.
Just wondering if it's worth switching over to something new when the old works just fine (most of the time)?
