    makes me sea sick looking at the pics .

    It would be nice to feel relaxed enough to sit there and take pics. These guys aren't normal .

    When I was at Sea.The 50s
    our hatches were wooden ones.covered with tarps and wedges.

    I was in Sydney on Tuesday and toured the Maratime Museum. They have a wooden cargo ship their the "James Craig" according to the tour guide the deck was made of 3 1/2" beech to withstand up to 100 tons of water crashing down on it.

    Nit picking I know, but the James Craig is an iron ship with timber decking. Sorry about that.
