Hipped roof-Scissor Bracing
<HR style="COLOR: #663333" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Hi, Im looking to remove structural walls in my place and to do that I need to remove roof supports on top plates.
I have supports between the intermediate rafters and top plates and Im thinking of using scissor bracing so I can remove these and eventually the walls.
I dont know what timber to use and any other tips would be appreciated!!!
Anyone done this little project before???
My roof is a small (10m x 8m) hipped roof.
Cheers wood worms!:eek::confused:

Are the walls you want to remove external or internal walls?

190 x 45 should be ok for about 4000 span.
However check the size needed with the building inspector
The walls supporting them should be reinforced over a couple of studs.
The prop under the high end should be 100 x 75 notched to fit under the scissor prop.
