Post to Beam Connection ????
I think this is an ugly one but any help would be appreciative.
I am erecting a carport that has 6m spans and the truss company has specified 2 300 * 65 LVL beams along each side (total beam width = 130mm) and cypress pine 125mm posts
I am straining my head to think how the 2 beams can be connected to the posts as their 2 respective widths are approx the same and posts cant be checked out etc.
My first thought was some type of metal pole plate on each side of the post bolted to the post and to the beams
Any ideas ???
Thanks
Chris

Maybe check one beam in and the other runs besides/behind the post.

Do the beams have to be laminated together, or can you get away with checking each one in by some 60mm on either side of the post and bolting 'em in place?
If they have to be laminated, I'd say you're looking at getting some saddles made up.

But obviously it will cost more, so whats your budget?
I dont even think you need 2 LVL beams.
