Default computer problem, any help please.

The system restore function on my PC XP home 2nd edition has now packed up.
This has happened previously on my two earlier computers and never worked again.
I do not have any windows software, my system is the reload disk. (time computers, no longer in business).

    Any help or advice appreciated.

Have you been to Microsofts web site and seen if there is anything to help?

Well, it's a bit late I guess, but my suggestion would be to get the installation restored however you can, bring it up to a point with the system and config all up to date, then image the drive using ghost or one of the many system image tools out there.

Then, when it craps out, you can go back with minimal losses.

Oh, and back up your data regularly

System Restore turns itself off if there is less than 200mb free space on the HDD.

Growing old is much better than the alternative!

Hi. Sprogg, There is plenty of space left on the hard drive 60gb.
I did get the system restore working again a cou-le of days ago, did a restore point>shut down>rebooted>and asked sytem restore to restore to that last point and it worked.

    BUT,

It won't restore to that point agin today, says unable to restore on message, so it look like I am back in trouble again.
