    1) delete it from startup folder

    2) go to control panel, select add or remove programs, then select add or remove wondows components, select messenger and delete the bastard.

    3) go to find file, type find files or folders, type in windows messenger. hit enter, all instances you find - delete.

    4) restart.

    or

    1) reinstall windows and untick the messenger box so its not installed in the first place.

Have you just had a Outlook update?

If you have it wont be listed on your start up ini, I just checked it!
Its part of outlook now and I cant seem to find a untick box that kills it!(typical microsoft)

Fixed it, removed it from the windows components list in the add/remove programs in control panel.
