I'm having selling problems on ebay
Hoping there's a quick fix to this. Bloody computer problems again.
Whilst I'm still able to get into 'my ebay' and view and bid on items as a buyer, I can't seem to get into the selling part.
Uno, at the top of the screen there's a button that says SELL......well, I click on that, and the program just draggs on and on and nothing....just with that long blue bar at the bottom of the screen extending away....but it never connects up to the Sell section of Ebay.
The computer doesn't hang up such that I have to re-boot.....just no response. I end up hitting STOP at the top of the screen....
The same problem when trying to go anywhere within myebay.....ie. I can't view my account, or, click on a help button.
This has been going on for a week now. I've have been able to sell things prior to this. I've got a few things the misses wants me to sell.
appreciate any suggestions. thanks.

Try going to tools, internet options, delete files, tick the 'delete all off line content, then clear history, ok then try again.
Could be there is too much crud in your system and cookies need cleaning out.
I do this when it comes to 'my ebay' and it won't accept registrtion/sign on, I also run C Cleaner at least once a week, bit like All Bran for the computer.Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

Thanks Ian.......tried the 'delete all off line contents' bit......still no go.
Same problem. Seems to be happening also when trying to switch from myebay to another site from favorites as well. Have to close the window down completely and click the internet explorer icon again.
Might have to get some all bran

Working fine for me. Are you using the new 'Sell your item' form?

Just a thought, there have been some dodgy emails about lately purporting to come from Ebay. How are you logging onto the site, through a message you received by email? If it's the one that says "How to sell safely on Ebay", don't use it.

Thanks Silkwood for the tip. I didn't know about that 'how to sell safely on ebay scam'.....but, no, I haven't fallen for that yet, so I don't think thats the problem.
maybe I should try and start a new account. New name the whole lot to try and sort of reset things. dunno.

Maybe it is a problem with your web browser?
Have you done a 'Windows Update' lately?I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

If you are using IE, you can have the eBay toolbar, which, among other things, gives you a warning if you are on a spoof eBay site.
Not sure if there is a Firefox equivalent - might be by now."Clear, Ease Springs"

Help coming
I would say you either have a virus, or some unknown problem that is not allowing you to connect. I play with computers quite a bit. I have tried many browsers, but I am staying with Opera. You can download it here. I would try that. If you want to set up a new account, you would have to find a way top unregister, and I don't think they allow you to do that. You have to unregister first, because when you are signing up, It will say Somevbvody else allready has that Address/Username/Email address. Try cvontacting ebay about it. If it is creating problems like that on other websites, let me know, and I will try to work it out,

Thankyou though. And matrix and Stuart. tried updating.
I think your right about unregistering. Find it odd that its only in the myebay bit though.
Do I have to uninstall internet explorer first to use opera ?

Opera and Firefox will both run without unistalling IE.
I run the 3 together and sometimes I have all 3 going at the same time.
Opera takes a long while to start up which is a pita

Opera is the fastest browser. Try contacting ebay about it.

"hosts" file problem?
You don't by any chance have a corrupted local "hosts" file ?
A malicious piece of software could insert a dodgy address into there for the ebay pages instead of letting your browser use the ISP's DNS lookup......The PC looks in that file first as it is quicker to resolve, but because of this is a prime candidate for hijacking popular sites.
BTW, most people can live quite happily with an empty local "hosts" file.
Also some anti spyware software will insert known problem sites into "hosts" as 127.0.0.1, forcing the browser to look at your own PC, which won't work.
Perhaps the My EBay is doing the same?
Oh, yeah, easiest to search for "hosts".
You find it in your windows/system32/drivers/etc folder, well at least it is on mine.
If in doubt, rename the existing one to oldhosts.old, or similar, and create a new empty hosts file. Then give it a try.Ray
