Default to motar or not to mortar

Just had the chimney repointed and I need to fit a new cowl for the gas fire.
do you need to mortar this on? (the old one was)
or can you dyna bolt it to the bricks?

You will find there is nothing to fix Dynabolts to, the old mortar is held there by smoke and mirrors.

Go on Al dynabolts should produce amazing results! A bucket of mud and an old trowel, spoon, flat board whatever, doesn't matter how rough up there. It only needs to be enough to stop it blowing away.
