Thanks from John2b for the offer to join
I've been a participant in the now deceased Renovate Forum for several years, which has given me a great opportunity to learn to communicate better.
I hope I can continue to get useful information in this new-to-me forum, whilst chipping in from time to time with what little wisdom I have gained over the years.
I seem to have travelled a different path to many people and I do sometimes present arguments forcefully. I've occasionally though unintentionally annoyed others in forums. I never mean to cause offence so I'll apologise in advance for any transgressions.

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "John"
There are quite a good few members around Adelaide, not too sure about Kangaroo Island but there heaps around the rest of the country.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork......
Cheers crowie
PS - A bloke I joined the Navy with only moved from Kangaroo Island to Tassie a couples years back, I think he worked on the council, cheers.....

...we must have come from the same class John!!! and i too have that same very occasional issue. What's been positive for me is to get off CrapBook - the augumentive/opinionated/armchair keyboard worrier experts which for me found dragging me down to their gutter level. Its been several years since I've used FB and all for the better with my only involvement in 4 to 6 forums elsewhere that really interest me and/or are helpful in their advice/opinions ....for the most part in a positive way. I'm betting this is one of those forums

Welcome to the forum.
SWMBO and I played bowls on KI a couple of months ago where we met some very good woodworkers. I tried to convince them to join this forum and hope they do. One has a good supply of Huon Pine and local slabs of redgum near Penneshaw. Another turns some very nice things from redgum. I'm hoping to get over again to do a short course in one of his classes.
Enjoy this excellent forum.
