    Default G'day from Kalgoorlie

New member here, recently retired from the mining industry for the second time, and starting to get stuck into a bit of various types of woodwork out in my shed.
I originally retired a few years ago when the iron ore price fell through and the company I was working for basically went under, and got started on some wood turning (mostly bowls and pens) plus a bit of bandsaw box making. I even joined this forum back then too, but was not a regular visitor.

Then I got pulled back into the workforce, more in a design engineering and project management role, and spent almost a couple of years working on a couple of new projects interstate - often getting stuck there for months because of border closures etc. Largely due to health reasons, I have recently retired from the workforce again and am now spending time in the shed again - main interests are woodwork, some metal work (not a lot as I only have basic equipment) and tinkering with cars. My life in mining was not really a "hands-on" type of role, though I spent as much time in the plants swinging tools / helping out the tradesmen as I could. So what I am doing now is all new to me.

I look forward to meeting people on places like this and getting new ideas / learning new skills etc and so far, have found Youtube and similar sites a great place for learning. I love using locally sourced timber, as we have a pretty reasonable choice of some very nice timbers growing naturally around here, but also use whatever other resources I can find for materials. Looking forward to learning more ........

    Cheers ........... Brian

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Brian".....
There maybe a few member around the gold fields area with quite a few members in Perth and across the rest of the West plus the rest of Australia and the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
    Enjoy the forum.
    Enjoy your woodwork..
    Cheers crowie

PS - I would think you'd have some beautiful dry country timbers in and around Kalgoorlie....
