An elderly couple are out for a drive in the country, when the driver noticed the fuel gauge was getting low.
A few miles up the road was a service station, while he's filling the tank, not noticing the wife going to visit the rest rooms.
He goes inside, pays for the fuel and leaves, after about five minutes the wife comes out and goes to where the car was, only to discover that he's left, she goes inside to tell the cashier that he's left her behind!!
The cashier phones the Highway Patrol to explain the situation and to catch the husband.
The Officer catches up with him, and tells him that he's left his wife behind.
"THANK GOD for that!" he says "I thought I'd gone deaf!!"
