Clear Coat over Paint
Hey Guys,
I'm new here, and basically new to woodowrking in general.
I'm currently doing a bit of a paint job on a single bed for my 2 year old daughter. I've given the bed three coats of chalk paint, and it's looking pretty good, but I have been recommended to give it a couple of coats of a matt clear to protect the chalk paint.
The chalk paint is water based, and I was looking at using a water based poly to protect it, however recent reading suggests that it is entirely the wrong time of year to be spraying water based poly as it takes literally forever to set properly in cold weather(I live in Bendigo, and the highest the temperature has gotten in the past week has been about 15 degrees.).
If I'm wrong about the above, please let me know as I'd still be happy to do that.
If it is not advisable to use water based poly in cold weather, can you recommend another water based product to spray as a clear coat on chalk paint. The important thing is it needs to be a matt, or low sheen finish, because if its a gloss finish, that would defeat the purpose of using the chalk paint.
Thanks,
Mark

Some suggestions are at this link. Checkout the comments too. Don't think water based product is the way to go though.
