    Default Hola

    Hi all,

I'm a Londoner now living in the Adelaide Hills. Outside of my immediate (somewhat niche) area of knowledge - making custom handles for Japanese kitchen knives - I have very little woodworking experience, but hoping to learn more! Bit of a stone enthusiast too.

    G'Day & Welcome to a top forum.....
There are quite a good few members around Adelaide plus the rest of the country.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
    Enjoy the forum.
    Enjoy your woodwork......
    Cheers crowie

Cheers! Certainly looking forward to learning more from people here

It'd probably get a bit repetitive if I posted too much of what I do mostly, but I was quite pleased with these two this week:

Elm Burl, steel spacer and buffalo horn on a Sakimaru Yanagiba:

Used winemaking oak staves, with brass spacer on a Takohiki:

Simple stuff, but they cam out quite nice I think.

Welcome. With the greeting "Hola" I was not expecting an ex-patriate Londoner.

You probably have not yet explored the depths of this Forum, but it has many faces and leaves a matryoshka doll for dead. Among these hidden forums there is this one:

    JAPANESE HAND TOOLS (woodworkforums.com)

We have a few JP specialists (I am not one of them). Some of the threads refer specifically to JP woodworking tools such as planes and chisels, but quite a few are on the subject of JP knives.

Haha! I (used to) spend quite a lot of time in Spain, though tbh my Spanish is not as good as it should be.

Thanks for the pointer, I've noticed that there are indeed many years of posts on all sorts of topics to explore. Have been reading through a few, but indeed - have barely scratched the surface!
