    Default Melbourne hobbyist checking in

    G'day Everyone,

I started wood working about 12 months ago when I need to build a foot rest for my son when the schools shut down last year. From there I had the idea to build components such as dice towers and dice trays for board games and then kept going.

I've been in the process of building a workbench for something like 9months, I started with a plan to use roof batons from my Mums partners house when they got replaced. The old ones are about 30 years old and I didn't realise the amount of work needed to clean them up. Only using hand tools and no decent ability to hold the work was a bit of a downer.

The process of cleaning and squaring the batons was't helped by not realising how to configure a number 4 plane for tasks other than smoothing.

At the moment I'm still working on the bench but using 90x45 MGP10 for most of the bench and will be using some of the batons for a boarder.

I primarily work with hand tools with a couple of power tools like router, circular saw and mitre saw to make life easier.
