Converting silky oak wardrobe into bookcase / display cabinet

This is a wardrobe that had been deconstructed for the wood and now I have decided that I should preserve the joint workmanship (half blind ..... can't remember the name but as it stands 5'4" tall it will show on the top and I hope look great)). As I don't need yet another wardrobe I was all for cutting the depth down to a 300mm (12") to be in line with bookcase depth.

After examining the grain of these single boards I felt the need to preserve it all.

The front doors (not shown yet) are the standard old frame with 2 panels per door of ply board. That's where I will try to go different. I'll look at changing the ply board out for sheets of glass of if I'm lucky leadlight. Then I'm looking at the shelving not being full depth but rather allow me to install led lighting. I hope that will make people believe the depth is so this internal set up could be made.

As usual I will try to make it from as much recycled materials as possible.

Sanding has commenced first with ROS using 240 (exposed a lot of hidden damage) then 120 and finally back to 240. The pine top had severe stained but most have been sanded out.
Later I will spray water to raise the hairs and then hand sand (eventually I hope to get an old sander for this). I intend using shellac on the silky oak to see if I can generate a nice smooth layer that is easily repaired. The top will probably be a layer of shellac and then sealed with Estapol.
