Evening All
Newbie to this forum and also woodworking. Have. Taken it up as a retirement hobby. I recently bought a Ryobi 970 mm timber lathe. Seems to work ok for me (the chisels that came with it are not real good). I would like to fit a chuck to it however the thread appears to be “non standard” at 18mm. Has anyone bought a chuck for these lathes or can recommend one? Thanks in advance.

i think if you search around (and if that model is the one that the big green store sells) then the common thread is take it back and spend your money elsewhere, as nothing standard fits it and making it "work" with things you can get is a frustrating and expensive experience and not worth the effort. Sorry for not sugar coating it!

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum ....
There are quite a stack members around Sydney with a good few down the south coast of NSW plus the rest of the country.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork......
Cheers crowie
