    G'day everyone, Matt here.

    I hope everyone is doing ok with the lockdown and restrictions currently in place!

    I'm an airline pilot currently stood down without pay and a VERY amateur woodworker.

    18-odd months ago I stumbled across a channel on YouTube by Crimson Guitars - a UK company that is owned and run by Ben Crowe, a Master Luthier. He produces a plethora of educational videos on how to build guitars (part of his business is a large Luthier school). His presentation manner gelled with me straight away and got me thinking I could someday start building my own - being reasonably handy with tools. I play lead guitar in a rock covers band here in Brissie and I reckon it'd be pretty cool to play one of my own axes one day.

    So, I've started fitting out a workshop in the 3rd bay of our garage with a few bits and pieces (band saw / drill press & already had a few hand tools & machines), but have a long way to go & a lot of dollars to be spent yet. Next on the agenda is a proper workbench. While researching timber to use, I came across this forum. It looks like a great place to ask questions and garner a huge amount of knowledge...so here I am!

    Looking forward to conversing with some of you in the near future when I start asking a heap of dumb questions and look for recommendations on where to source tools/timber etc.

    G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Matt"...
    There are quite a stack members around Brisbane and cross South East Queensland plus the rest of the country.....
    You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
    Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
