Hi, I run a small Small Engine repair Workshop on Mornington Peninsula. Love all the oldie but goodie Chainsaws I come across & have purchased a few myself over the past few years.

Just purchased a nice example of a later model Stihl 08S 60cc Saw. unfortunately, I had the double Clip on the Pull Cord Mech break 2nd time I used it (bugger) Was able to source the clip easily from Sydney though. Seems a little down on compression as it's pretty easy to pull start but, appears to have good torque & cut through an old extra heavy Gum Pallet like butter, once I sharpened the chain. Bulky 17" Bar & chain too. Bit of a pain having to remove the Bar cover/handle to get to bar/chain but the oil pump & lines etc are built into inside of that cover, same as the Oil tank. Brilliant design unlike all the other smaller, newer model Stihls where you have to dismantle sections to then tackle the awkward line positions There are some tricks to get to oil pumps as in the MS170-180 models but to get to the worm gear of course removing the Clutch Brake mech is necessary. Most saws I see come in for service are leaking out oil underneath from leaky line grommets.

One MS180c I have now I've taken apart twice to flush out the oil line & filter & though there are no holes or splits & line looks perfect, still leaking out all over with absolutely no oil coming out of oil groove on base plate to oil bar how it's designed. So, have ordered new pump & line & will have toi dismantle a 3rd time, this time to check the worm gear& do complete repair job (pita!)

My other saws are a 1997 Jonsered Turbo 2050 50cc (Love it)
A 90's Husky 45 Special 40-46cc? May need carb replaced as it's not responding to H & L Rev tuning much @ all (damn it)
An old Stihl Professional 010
3 Homelite oldies (300, 400 & 500 series)
A Bunnings Homelite 30cc lol (oil running down from exhaust port already after less than a year - haven't checked that out yet as it still runs fine so, may be the oiler line leaking?)

Anyway, great to find this forum & hope to have a few good chats, especially concerning the oldies...
