Poly for dressed pine.
Happy to finish a dressed pine vanity face with poly.
Obviously I want to show the grain.Have noticed even a light sand (240)tends to mark up an otherwise nice surface .
My novice question is do I sand dressed pine before the first coat of poly?

I am no expert but I would sand. On front face, sand off the sharp edges.
Check the directions on the can of poly.
Use a scrap of the pine as a tester to see if you get the finish you want before touching the vanity.

Poly will fill fine sanding scratches, you won't see them when it's done

Okay now i am confused .I have read that mostly people will stain pine before poly. Then i read that a light stain on pine doesn't work that well .
If i just want to gloss up the existing pine face can i get that result with poly layers or will i be doing that till the cows come home?
