I was required to attend a meeting and then the following week a class in Atlanta. It was fortunate that the weekend between both events was a NASCAR race in Darlington, South Carolina. On Saturday morning I got up very early for the almost 5 hour drive.

The race was nothing spectacular but still enjoyable. My favorite finished second.

I had figured out a back route to the interstate and used that to get to the interstate highway on ramp. To my surprise the South Carolina State Troopers were conducting a 'Driver License' check point on the on ramp. This really was just a legal ruse to catch drunk drivers. As I get to the front of the line I said to the Trooper, "This is a really good idea." I had hadn't had anything, except water, to drink since I left Atlanta. I show my driver license (California) to the trooper. He says, "Are you going to drive all the way to California?" (About 2300 miles or 3600 Km.) I looked at him and said "I should be there by morning." He got one of these looks of total horror on his face and I said, "Gotcha!". At that point he realized that he had been 'Had'. We both started laughing. We talked for another minute or so before I went on my way.
